The Text+ Registry: Federating Research Data Catalogues for the Digital Humanities
摘要
The registry is a central component of the NFDI consortium Text+, designed to unify the cataloguing and discovery of text- and language-based research resources across diverse domains. Addressing the fragmentation and heterogeneity of existing catalogues, the registry employs a flexible, model-driven architecture that supports both automated metadata ingestion from external sources and manual curation by experts. Its sophisticated metamodelling concept accommodates the complexity of scholarly editions, collections, and lexical resources, balancing minimal entry requirements with the option for detailed enrichment. A key innovation is the provenance-aware metadata layering mechanism, which transparently documents the origin and evolution of each resource description, enabling both efficient reuse and expert-driven refinement. The hybrid approach allows the registry to consolidate complementary perspectives from multiple catalogues, resulting in richer and more sustainable metadata. To maximize findability and discoverability, the registry offers advanced search capabilities, including faceted and multilingual search, authority data integration, and persistent identifiers. These features, accessible via both web interfaces and APIs, facilitate cross-domain queries and integration with external infrastructures. By aligning with the FAIR principles and fostering interoperability, the Text+ Registry not only improves the visibility and accessibility of scholarly resources but also establishes a robust, extensible foundation for future semantic and knowledge graph-based research infrastructures.
