Pregnancy in Obese Patients
摘要
Overweight stands for a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 29.9, while obesity stands for a body mass index (BMI) above 30 (◘ Fig. 38.1) [1, 2]. The BMI of a person is measured by dividing the body’s weight in kilograms by the body’s height in square meters (kg/m2) [1]. Having a high BMI could have a negative impact on conception and pregnancy. Maternal obesity is a metabolic state which has always been considered as a major problem not only for public health, but also for a large number of women in their reproductive age with potential specific consequences on the health and well-being of the mother and her child [3].
