The female immune system must be actively adapted during pregnancy in order to maintain its defensive capacity and, at the same time, protect the fetus from immunological rejection. This profound immunological change may influence, in various ways, women with an autoimmune disease who are conceiving. One such way is the further development of the disease in the postpartum period. Another way is the aggravation of a preexisting condition. Additionally, pregnancy losses can be a serious problem in many women with autoimmune diseases. In the chapter, we will review the potential pregnancy complications in the most representative autoimmune diseases.
