Principles Reconstructive Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology
摘要
Due to the nature of the disease, the gynecologic oncology surgeon sometimes confronts with extended radical surgery such as pelvic exenteration, one of the most challenging gynecologic oncologic surgeries that entail radical en bloc resection of the female reproductive organs and removal of additional adjacent pelvic organs. The radicality of this kind of extended surgery means that the gynecologic oncologists must be also prepared to perform concomitant adequate surgical reconstruction to restore bodily integrity and functions. During the last few years, much attention has been focused on the reconstruction of pelvic organs after exenterations to improve the quality of life of these patients.
