In 2014, FIGO’s Committee for Gynecologic Oncology revised the staging of ovarian cancer, incorporating ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer into the same system. Despite the great progress accomplished in the treatment during the platinum era and the improvement in advanced cancer surgery, this group of malignancies, for which there is no reliable screening test, still remains the leading cause of death from cancer of the female reproductive system. Complete tumor resection has been identified as the most relevant prognostic factor for improved survival in these patients.

摘要

In 2014, FIGO’s Committee for Gynecologic Oncology revised the staging of ovarian cancer, incorporating ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer into the same system. Despite the great progress accomplished in the treatment during the platinum era and the improvement in advanced cancer surgery, this group of malignancies, for which there is no reliable screening test, still remains the leading cause of death from cancer of the female reproductive system. Complete tumor resection has been identified as the most relevant prognostic factor for improved survival in these patients.
