Patrick was a true legend in the Department of Anesthesiology at Trinity He earned 15 Teacher of the Year awards. His 30 peer reviewed research papers changed the way anesthesiologists practice. His national and international reputation as a speaker, and a leadership position in the ASA kept his 45 years of service alive for years after he retired. He was scheduled to do an open AAA, and his performance was simply perfect and effortless. At the end of the case, he was staring at the patient, aphasic and unresponsive.
