It took two years for Peter Lichtenstein to recover from the “Deadly Epidural”. Chris blamed Fromer for 90% of the event. Peter changed his name to Charles Troutman. Chris made him the Chief of Anesthesia for Solid Organ Transplantation, which was a testimony to his comprehensive knowledge of transplantation. He was a masterful teacher of residents and fellows on the foundations of transplantation: classification of donors, the impact of liver cirrhosis on systemic diseases, hepatorenal syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, porto-pulmonary disease, bleeding varices, hepatic encephalopathy, portal hypertension, and airway challenges. Charles brought to the program point of care testing: thromboelastography, platelet function analyzer, STATE INR, ABG, and thromboelastometry.
