Towards an Educational Response to the Climate and Environment Emergency
摘要
Children currently in primary schools will still be studying in 2030, the date by which greenhouse gas emissions should have been cut by 50% in order to stay below 1.5 °C of global warming. It is likely that this target will not be met, and the prospects for the world reaching net zero by 2050 look bleak. This new generation will face a world very different from the one that their teachers grew up in. The climate and environment emergency is already having a huge impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services. This talk will focus on how science education, and biology education, in particular, might respond to the new reality facing young people and their teachers.
