This chapter provides a detailed exploration of Vietnam’s policy and legislative framework regarding investment. It begins with a retrospective examination of the economic development strategies and FDI attraction policies that Vietnam has implemented since the country started its economic liberalisation. Following this overview, the chapter analyses the Vietnamese government’s perspective on foreign investment, offering a comprehensive discussion of the policies created to attract FDI. The practical application of these investment attraction policies is reflected in Vietnam’s complex system of investment legislation.
