The Use of Noninvasive Ventilation in Regional Anesthesiology
摘要
Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is an accepted method of treatment in both acute and chronic respiratory diseases. Compared to invasive ventilation, it improves the patient’s comfort, reduces the need for sedatives, and improves the patient’s neurocognitive functions. At the same time, NIV is used with high efficiency in the perioperative period to prevent postoperative pulmonary complications. Regional anesthesiology techniques are increasingly used as the basic method of anesthesia or as a component of multimodal analgesia. They are associated with a high percentage of patient safety. Therefore, these procedures are used in a growing population of patients with respiratory diseases who, despite the safety measures in place, are at high risk of postoperative pulmonary complications. The following elaboration is an attempt to describe the possibility of using NIV in patients undergoing procedures under regional anesthesia.
