In the Introduction to this book, we had briefly alluded to the phenomenon of USA running into a logjam of innovations. It is true. This fact is often overlooked because the rise and dominance of digital technologies has masked the real untapped potential of American university research—that is a vast and deep ocean of new inventions, innovations, discoveries, intellectual capital, and potential value creation.
