Most patients with thyroid cancers have a promising prognosis. However, certain patients with aggressive thyroid cancers, including radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancers (RAIR-DTC), poorly differentiated thyroid cancers (PDTC), and anaplastic thyroid cancers (ATC) portend a challenging treatment course. These patients are more likely to fail traditional therapies for thyroid cancer and different therapeutic strategies are needed. Emerging targeted molecular therapies offer a promising new treatment adjunct for this complex clinical problem.

摘要

Most patients with thyroid cancers have a promising prognosis. However, certain patients with aggressive thyroid cancers, including radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancers (RAIR-DTC), poorly differentiated thyroid cancers (PDTC), and anaplastic thyroid cancers (ATC) portend a challenging treatment course. These patients are more likely to fail traditional therapies for thyroid cancer and different therapeutic strategies are needed. Emerging targeted molecular therapies offer a promising new treatment adjunct for this complex clinical problem.
