This chapter introduces the Commodity Project, in which students chose one mundane commodity and traced its production and circulation processes which tend to have a global reach. Highlighting the interdependence of nation-states rather than negating its importance, this project suggested a post-unit thinking context that focuses on connections, which are filtered and managed through various policies and regulations of nation-states and regions consisting of nation-states.
