Supraclavicular Block
摘要
The supraclavicular block is a regional anaesthesia technique used for surgical anaesthesia and analgesia of the upper limb, particularly for elbow, forearm, and hand surgeries. It targets the brachial plexus at the level of the trunks and divisions, ensuring a rapid onset and dense block. It may provide more consistent radial nerve coverage than infraclavicular or axillary approaches. Ultrasound guidance enhances safety by identifying key structures, including the subclavian artery, first rib, and pleura, reducing the risk of complications such as vascular puncture, pneumothorax, and phrenic nerve palsy. Higher local anaesthetic volumes may increase the risk of cephalad spread and unwanted nerve involvement.
