Analgesia for Surgery of the Elbow
摘要
Supracondylar elbow fractures are common in children, especially in the first decade. They are associated with a significant incidence of neurovascular compromise and should be assessed promptly. A combined general and regional anaesthetic technique is usually indicated in this age group. Various approaches to the brachial plexus can be employed to provide excellent peri-operative analgesia, including supraclavicular, infraclavicular and axaillary brachial plexus blocks. This chapter discusses anaesthetic options and related considerations for managing elbow fractures in children.
