A high-quality transportation infrastructure is one of the foundations of economic development and societal prosperity. To ensure the smooth transport of people and goods, it is essential to provide maximum traffic safety. Proper roadway lighting significantly contributes to achieving these goals, making it a key focus area. Over time, the performance of lighting installations deteriorates, requiring maintenance or replacement measures. Additionally, the energy efficiency of light sources is becoming increasingly important. This paper examines the electricity costs of a Public Company Roads of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PCR FBiH) public road infrastructure. An economic analysis of the benefits of replacing outdated light sources with modern energy-efficient alternatives was conducted for two locations where such upgrades were implemented. The findings show that in addition to improving roadway safety, the replacement of light sources also leads to significant reductions in electricity costs.
