CBT, Positive Psychology, and Judaism: A Hopeful Integration
摘要
This chapter explores the intersections between cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology (PP), and Judaism. Building on the thought and vision of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, we explore shared underlying principles. A vision of character development and flourishing built on essential interventions such as cognitive reframing is proposed. Critical analysis of the philosophical underpinnings, along with a review of the research on the integration of the disciplines, and practical clinical applications is provided. Special emphasis is given to the character trait of hope as being a unifying principle that is essential to CBT, PP, and Judaism. The road to a culturally sensitive intervention, particularly for youth, could begin with adapting hope-based interventions for Jewish students.
