Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C) is an effective, evidence-based intervention for children and preadolescents with severe emotional and behavioral dysregulation, some of whom meet criteria for Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). The treatment stems directly from the original DBT treatment for adults as well as the adaptation for adolescents and has been modified to include a parent training component and skills that are developmentally and cognitively age appropriate. While research and information about DBT-C continue to grow, little has been written regarding the application of the treatment for Jewish youth. This chapter provides a brief review of DBT-C as a therapeutic intervention and explores the religious and cultural factors that are relevant in applying the treatment effectively with Jewish children and their families. Applications for DBT-C clinical assessment and treatment are explored, and clinical adaptations are considered and suggested to increase the likelihood that treatment outcomes will be successful for this specific population.

摘要
