A Study on Compositions Optimization of a Hybrid Brake Friction Material Using Metaheuristic
摘要
In this article a hybrid brake pad material is designed and fabricated to meet the requirements of replacement of asbestos in fabrication of a brake pad. The coefficient of friction is an important parameter which is optimized to get better results. Over the years, disk brake systems have been employed to ensure the safe slowing and stopping of automobiles. Brake pads serve a vital function in the braking mechanisms of various machinery and equipment, including aircraft, cars and other vehicles. Their compositions are continuously refined to keep pace with technological advancements and evolving environmental standards. Friction materials are crucial components in optimizing wear and friction performance. This paper explores optimization of composition of brake pad materials which consists of five components to get better properties. The standard coefficient of friction of each component is considered and an optimized volume fractions of five components of brake pad is obtained using MATLAB. This volume fraction result can be further used to fabricate a new brake pad material.
