EchoGuard: Identifying Plagiarism in Music Composition
摘要
Plagiarism refers to the act of using someone else’s ideas, work, or words without proper acknowledgment or permission, typically in academic or creative contexts. It involves presenting someone else’s work as your own and misleading others about the originality of the content. Musical plagiarism represents a significant problem in the music industry, generating controversies and causing artistic and financial damage to both the artists and the industry. In this context, developing software that can identify and prevent plagiarism becomes imperative. Such a solution may serve as an essential tool for protecting copyright laws and promoting a more equitable environment for music creators. This paper’s main purpose is to develop and evaluate an efficient plagiarism detector capable of identifying similarities between musical pieces in various aspects, such as melodic structure, harmony, rhythm, and lyrics. Through exploring and integrating research from domains of both audio engineering and software, this paper aims to bring contributions to the existing knowledge.
