This chapter studies color vision. We start by studying how photoreceptors work and how, as the first step in seeing, color vision is encoded by the photoreceptors. We then discuss post-receptoral mechanisms that encode color vision, a.k.a., the opponent processes. In both encoding mechanisms, we discuss behavioral phenomena as well as potential neural and physiological basis.
