The main concepts of combinatorial, metric and quantum graphs are introduced. Key to this summary is the derivation of a self-adjoint realization of a differential operator on metric graphs. Subsequently, partial differential equations are posed on metric graphs and their weak formulation are derived. In particular, a generalized heat equation and a reaction-diffusion equation on metric graphs are treated. This chapter in addition defines and illustrates several example graphs and test problems frequently used throughout this book.

摘要

The main concepts of combinatorial, metric and quantum graphs are introduced. Key to this summary is the derivation of a self-adjoint realization of a differential operator on metric graphs. Subsequently, partial differential equations are posed on metric graphs and their weak formulation are derived. In particular, a generalized heat equation and a reaction-diffusion equation on metric graphs are treated. This chapter in addition defines and illustrates several example graphs and test problems frequently used throughout this book.
