Percutaneous closure is considered the first-line therapy for atrial septal defects (ASDs). Anatomical and functional features must be carefully evaluated before and during the transcatheter procedure. This chapter aims to describe current strategies for transcatheter closure of ASDs in adults, with a particular focus on preprocedural planning, patient and device selection, procedural approach, and outcomes.
