Going Green: Leveraging Green HRM to Foster a Green Culture and Empower Employees in a Polycrisis Era

This research examines how the manufacturing sector of Pakistan can achieve environmental performance by implementing Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices. This study examines the mediating role of green organizational culture (GOC), green employee empowerment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior for the Environment (OCBE). The study assesses the sequential mediation impact of GOC and OCBE to link GHRM with the environmental performance of the organization. The study further explores the chain mediating impact of green employee empowerment and OCBE between GHRM and the environmental performance of the organization. The results of the study indicate that GOC and OCBE and green employee empowerment and OCBE sequentially mediate between GHRM and organization’s environmental performance. The results highlight the critical significance of promoting green employee empowerment, OCBE and green organizational culture to foster the organization’s environmental performance as key strategies for enhancing organizational resilience and sustainability in times of polycrisis.
