Exploring the Role of Surveillance Cameras in Enhancing Perceived Neighborhood Safety: Insights from Rabat, Morocco

Urban safety is a crucial issue in contemporary cities, prompting policymakers to implement technological solutions such as surveillance cameras to deter crime and enhance residents’ perceptions of security. This study examines the role of surveillance cameras in improving perceived neighborhood safety in Rabat, Morocco. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and crime data analysis, the research evaluates residents’ attitudes towards surveillance infrastructure and its impact on their sense of security. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on the effectiveness of surveillance cameras as crime deterrents and their broader implications for urban safety policies.
