With the increasing trend toward parenchymal sparing liver resection, surgeons turn toward performing multiple smaller resections while attempting to preserve as much viable liver tissue as possible. Inferior or superior partial hepatectomy can be accessed and safely performed by either open or MIS approach. While more challenging than inferior approach, superior partial hepatectomy can be facilitated using minimally invasive surgical techniques and, in particular, through robotic-assisted partial hepatectomy. Here we highlight techniques and surgical principles for inferior and superior partial hepatectomy including technical recommendations and pitfalls.

摘要
