All image processing operations that we have considered so far from Chapter 10 to 16 were neighborhood operations, even though we have succeeded in extending this effective class of operators to large scales using multiscale approaches (Chapter 15). Nevertheless, the feature images obtained in this way are incomplete in several respects.
