In recent years, additive manufacturing (AM) has advanced towards industrialization, driven by digital technology innovations. Among the various AM processes, Laser Wire Additive Manufacturing (LWAM) stands out as a promising method for industrial metal applications. This paper aims to enhance the scientific understanding of the LWAM process for these applications. Our study accomplishes several objectives: determining the current state of progress in this field, analyzing key publications to build upon existing research, identifying gaps for future investigation, and highlighting promising areas for value-added research. Using the Elsevier Scopus database, we identified relevant publications from 2018 to 2024, ultimately selecting 116 papers in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer software to investigate co-authorship, keyword, and citation networks within LWAM research. The paper provides a comprehensive review of recent advancements in LWAM and discusses potential directions for new research.
