The overarching goal of this literature review—discussed in detail below—is to illuminate the current status and evolution of AI in business and management, with a specific focus on ML algorithms and the rise of large language models such as ChatGPT. The review provides an overview of academic research on digital literacy published from 2015 to 2024, identifying key trends, challenges and future directions. By reviewing the peer-reviewed literature, we show how different AI technologies are disruptive across business functions defining decision making, customer service, operations and strategic planning.
