In recent times, smart home technologies have transformed the aged and disabled individual lives by offering more independence, safety, and ease of daily activities. This systematic review paper explores how smart technologies are being used in Australia, focusing on innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and remote monitoring systems. While these advancements bring many benefits, challenges such as privacy concerns, security risks, cost, and user adaptability are the major barriers. By reviewing recent research and industry insights, this paper examines how smart home solutions are shaping the future of independent living, highlighting the need for personalized, ethical, and accessible technologies. The findings of this paper emphasize the importance of designing smart home systems that truly support and empower aged and disabled individuals in their everyday lives without allocating big budgets and costs in aged and disabled homes and hospitals.
