Advancing Robotics and Computer Science Education: Resource Usage in an Engaged Scholarship Community of Practice
摘要
Introducing robotics education in schools has accelerated the need for access to resources for the upskill educators. This research aimed to determine the extent to which existing resources are used to advance robotics and computer science education using a questionnaire within an engaged scholarship community of practice for robotics education. The key findings reveal the hindrances of overcrowded classrooms, insufficient in-service educator upskilling, and lack of stakeholder support and learner resources (robotics kits, laptops, and internet connectivity). Therefore, despite the evolving plethora of resources, the hindrances still obscure the progress attained through access to robotics education resources. The implications of this research include the importance of ongoing engagement within the community of practice to tackle these hindrances. In addition, the resource needs of the members need to be addressed to ensure that resources can be used for the advancement of both robotics and computer science education.
