This chapter reviews the scope of social obligations of the EU states under the EU Temporary Protection Directive, which has been activated after the beginning of the large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine. The broad possibilities for elaboration of national approaches to the social protection of TPPs by EU states, the diversity of national social packages for Ukrainian TPPs and the common tendency to their reduction that could lead to inclusion only ones that are necessary for humans to survive were scrutinized. The special attention was paid to the EU states’ obligations under international instruments in the context of social protection and support of temporary protected persons, including the European Social Charter and the European Convention on Human Rights. The importance of further interpretation of the minimum scope of EU States’ social obligations in the context of the correlation of obligations to protect social basic rights of TPPs under the EU Directive and international human rights treaties was underlined as well as the crucial role of their understanding for searching a solution of TPPs social protection after 2025.
