The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is an EU funding programme focused on bringing digital technology to businesses, citizens and public administrations. In line with the EU digital programs it is an important strategic goal for Hungary to modernize its public administration (including health care system). The article deals with the new Hungarian eHealth Infrastructure (EESZT). It is a central IT system which has set the foundations for ensuring communication between healthcare service providers and patients. The EESZT was joined gradually by general practitioners, outpatient and inpatient care institutions, dentists, and all pharmacies since 1 November 2017. The EESZT overhauling the Hungarian health care system aims at maximising the speed, efficiency and service-oriented approach of health care. The key to this is continuous contact between healthcare institutions, therapists and pharmacies, ensuring that information is consistent and accessible to all eligible participants.
