Numerical Simulation of Two-Component Flow in Low-Permeability Gas Reservoirs
摘要
In recent decades, the scientific and technological community dedicated to energy has been increasingly interested in producing and using natural gas. To this end, they introduced, for example, horizontal wells and hydraulic fracturing to recover hydrocarbons from low-permeability natural gas reservoirs, such as tight gas reservoirs. At the same time, researchers have improved both the physical-mathematical modeling and the reservoir simulation tools. This work employs numerical simulation of two-component flow in low permeability reservoirs to study carbon dioxide injection in methane reservoirs, using fully implicit numerical formulations and operator splitting. The effects of gas slippage and effective stress, which can occur in these reservoirs, are also considered. We present the results for a naturally fractured reservoir and an analysis of the influence of some operational conditions.
