In this chapter, we first describe the research on happiness concerning marketplace experiences. In this context, we describe the principle of experiential advantage. We then discuss strategies related to what experiences can enhance happiness concerning marketplace experiences: hedonic experiences, freedom from experience (as with recovery), extraordinary experiences, ordinary experiences, eudaimonic experiences, freedom to experience as with eudaimonia, flow experiences, and self-expressive activities. We follow this discussion by focusing on strategies that can enhance happiness concerning marketplace experiences by addressing concerns related to “how to experience”: savoring and experiential happiness, anticipated savoring, savoring positive experiences in the present moment, reminiscence experiences, sharing of positive events with others, engagement in diverse experiences, and arrangement and choice of hedonic experiences.

摘要
