The chapter examines the role of African Union (AU) institutional architecture in governing African unity through continental integration. It analyses the respective functions of the institutional architecture based on their obligations and duties stated in the AU Constitutive Act. The work unravels the lopsided structure of the power distribution whereby the AU Assembly wielded too much power and control to the detriment of others. The chapter affirmed that this development is attributed to the failure of AU member countries to renounce their sovereignty to a continental body, like the EU. This, however, has remained the major albatross to the AU from actualising its objective of governing African unity through continental integration. The work utilises primary and secondary sources to analyse and interpret the subject matter. It equally employs the theory of norm subsidiary to interrogate African unity through continental integration distribution.

摘要
