This chapter examines the economic achievements of the Auvergne region after 1918 under the guidance of the Clermont-Ferrand chamber of commerce. It shows how the economic leadership in the Clermont chamber of commerce set about creating an economic development plan for the Auvergne after the war. It discusses improvements in railways and canals, the development of hydro-electric power from the fall of the Dordogne river, new initiatives in technical and vocational education and the founding of a banque populaire adapted to the needs of local businesses.
