Peer Support in Mental Health
摘要
This chapter explores the evolution of peer support in mental health care, tracing its roots in the rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s. The chapter also engages with the emergence of the recovery model of mental health that has arisen hand in hand with the more recent upsurge of interest in peer support in mental health care, highlighting how this has often been associated with treatment in tertiary mental healthcare settings. Lastly, we point to the potential of this approach in feminist approaches to primary mental health care for young women.
