Critical Information Infrastructure Protection in Montenegro: Aligning National Regulations with EU Standards

In the modern context, CII is exposed to increasing cyber threats, necessitating adequate regulatory and technical mechanisms for its protectionProtection. The European UnionEuropean Union has established a comprehensive framework for enhancing CII resilienceResilience through the Critical Entities ResilienceResilience (CER) Directive, the Network and Information Systems Directive (NIS 2), and the Artificial IntelligenceArtificial Intelligence (AI) Act (AI Act)Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). The aim of this paper is to analyze the alignment of Montenegro’s national regulatory framework with these European standardsEuropean standards, identify regulatory gaps, and present proposals for improving national legislation.
