The use of cold-formed and hollow steel sections is becoming more common in primary structures, as is the use of long bolts, which offer advantages at the assembly stage. This article develops an advanced finite element model of a joint where the column is a square hollow section, and the beams are back-to-back cold-formed C-sections assembled by an end plate, a fin plate, long bolts and standard bolts. The finite element model considers the clearance of the bolt hole and the influence of the bolt thread on the bearing behavior. The contribution of the components to the rotation of the joint was analyzed, with slip and bearing deformation contributing to the rotation on the early loading stage and the column deformation in the plastic range.
