Stereo-EEG radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTC) is a recent minimally invasive technique with the potential to cure focal, drug-resistant epilepsy. This technique also has clear additional value in predicting which patients may benefit from resective surgery, in case seizure freedom cannot be achieved after RFTC. In addition to RFTC, other minimally invasive techniques have recently emerged, each with its own value in certain categories of patients.

摘要

Stereo-EEG radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTC) is a recent minimally invasive technique with the potential to cure focal, drug-resistant epilepsy. This technique also has clear additional value in predicting which patients may benefit from resective surgery, in case seizure freedom cannot be achieved after RFTC. In addition to RFTC, other minimally invasive techniques have recently emerged, each with its own value in certain categories of patients.
