Indication and Interpretation of Electrocorticography by Subdural and Spencer-Type Electrodes
摘要
Subdural electrodes (SDEs) can be placed over the convexity, base, and mesial aspect of the cerebral hemispheres, without penetrating the brain. They are particularly suitable for EEG recording of larger, contiguous cortex areas and for functional cortex mapping. To record the hippocampus, the cortex of the insula and in deep sulcal valleys, as well as subcortical lesions, SDEs can be supplemented with one or more depth electrodes. The frequency of adverse events (mainly sub- or epidural collections) doubles at ≥67 contacts.
