The purpose of this paper to explores employee voice on innovation within Malaysian Small Medium Enterprises. Employee voice has become an important mechanism to gather ideas, suggestions in which required active participation from both actors. Fostering the dyadic relationship between manager and employees, this exploratory investigates the employee voice for an innovation. We examining factors such recognition, learning, leadership, collaboration and fairness as an important mechanism in encouraging open conversation among employees. This qualitative study utilizing data from open-ended questionnaires and direct observation with applying thematic, interpretive, and narrative analyses to uncover core themes and narratives around employee voice in SMEs. This study contributes to an in-depth understanding factor that encourage employee to enhance the innovative approach within the organization. This paper offers a practical insight from among employees as source of ideas, feedbacks and increase the potential in business sustainability. The current study opens more further discussions on understanding what the employee expects when their voice being heard and considering internal and external channels as route for ‘voice’ to be visible.

摘要
