This exploratory study examines strategies to foster sustainable work environments in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), focusing on enhancing employee well-being and operational efficiency. SMEs play a crucial role in economic development but often face unique challenges in creating supportive, productive workplaces. This research uses qualitative methods to explore employee and manager perspectives on key workplace factors, including work-life balance, effective communication, skill development, and technology integration. Findings reveal practical, resource-efficient approaches SMEs can adopt to boost operational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. Key recommendations include implementing flexible work arrangements, cultivating inclusive workplace cultures, and offering targeted development opportunities. These practices help address typical resource constraints in SMEs and enhance employee engagement and retention, contributing to a balanced and resilient workplace environment. The insights from this study present scalable solutions specifically tailored to the dynamic needs of SMEs, providing a foundation for further exploration into sustainable management practices within the small business sector. This research highlights the importance of an integrated approach to workplace sustainability, underscoring the role of adaptable and employee-centered strategies for long-term organizational success in SMEs.
