Silencers Design and Optimization for Noise Suppression in Screw Compressors
摘要
Screw pumps generate noise that can be attributed to pulsations due to the lobe-passing frequencies coming from the meshing of the screws, flow induced, over and under-compression and mechanical due to gears and bearings. In this paper, a methodology for designing and optimizing silencers used in suppressing this noise is presented. Two commercial softwares, namely, Ansys Mechanical and Actran acoustics are used and compared. As optimization parameters, maximizing the transmission loss and minimizing the pressure drop are used. To help explain how it is done, some test cases are presented in addition to the challenges that are encountered in the process.
