Women on Corporate Boards: American, European and Ukrainian Experience to Use Gender Quotas
摘要
In this chapter, we compare the experience of corporate gender quotas implementation American, European and Eastern European traditions. We illustrate the current situation of the women representation in the corporate boards of companies though the example of legislation and judiciary in the USA, EU and Ukraine as countries representing these three traditions. We then underline, what current counterarguments are used to object corporate gender quotas. We then contribute to the existing discussion by proposing to look at the BHR agenda though the concept of personal autonomy, namely, the principle of ‘gendered autonomy’. Such perspective contributes to the debate on the necessity of introducing gender quotas at corporate boards.
