This chapter aims to introduce the book which arises from the realization that the area of study recognized as ‘Business and Human Rights’ suffers from an affliction identified in the sciences in general: the lack of visibility of women from peripheral countries. The purpose of this preliminary chapter is to discover the role of gender approach in business and human rights scholarship, to map gender related theoretical studies and practical tools to implement the UN Guiding principles on business and human rights with indication of women voices engagement in these developments. Introductory chapter also presents the methodology of the survey and the analysis of the data on the conditions and possible barriers and limits for the publication and dissemination of intellectual production on business and human rights issued by women from peripheral countries. The principal barriers which are analysed are the following: household care, language barrier, restricted time schedule, lack of economic benefit, gender-based discrimination, pandemic impact, lack of information for publishing, administrative burdens, maternity leave.
