In the past two decades, virtual surgical planning has transformed the practice of orthognathic surgery. This is particularly useful in patients with more severe skeletal deformities, where appropriate correction requires complex movement of multiple skeletal components. Use of virtual surgical planning has been shown to lead to higher accuracy and efficiency, when compared to traditional planning methods.
