Specifically, it goes over the related literature, it explored the use of educational robotics, and presents the transition toward social robots. Additionally, it focuses on how social robots can be integrated in teaching and learning activities and their role in personalized learning. The outcomes of this study highlight the role of social robots as effective educational tools that can support both students and teachers. Additionally, their ability to be used in both formal and informal settings and across educational levels was revealed. Due to their social-emotional intelligence, socio-cognitive skills, communication and interaction skills, embodiment, and sense of attachment and relatedness, social robots can amplify the educational benefits yielded by educational robotics. The study also highlights the improvement in students’ learning outcomes and social skills. However, challenges and concerns, such as moral, ethical, security issues, also arose. Finally, the need for more experimental studies to be conducted to further explore the potentials of integrating social robots in educational settings emerged.

Social robots are increasingly being used in educational settings. This chapter aims to provide an overview regarding the use of social robots in classrooms.
