This chapter underscores the critical importance of adopting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) as a shared commitment within institutional settings. It emphasizes that achieving diversity in simulation practices goes beyond superficial representation, integrating EDI principles into the very core of healthcare simulation curricula. EDI should stand as a foundational framework within institutions, with cultural humility at its core. The institution must actively support the promotion of EDI, seamlessly weaving it throughout its curricula. This endeavor demands not only financial investment but also the allocation of staffing resources capable of effectively designing and delivering EDI content. Drawing inspiration from the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (R), this chapter stresses the pivotal role of professional integrity, continuous professional development in successfully incorporating EDI, simulation design, effective debriefing process, operational considerations, and clear EDI outcomes and objectives. Lastly, this chapter highlights how EDI simulations offer a unique opportunity for interprofessional education. This chapter advocates for a comprehensive approach to advancing EDI in healthcare simulation, aiming to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment for future healthcare professionals.
